The Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) has issued an alert of active investigations being conducted in these cities. If you have terminals deployed in any of these areas, please be on special alert for the fraudulent transaction characteristics. If you find any similar transactions, please immediately file a police report and a SARS report with Meta.

  • Encourage careful monitoring of terminals and transactions.
  • ATM Custodians make extra efforts to examine the front of every ATM for unusual attachments that may be disguised as native equipment. Loose ceiling tiles above ATMs may house hidden cameras or transmitters.
  • Examine the façade of ATM equipment for sticky tape or Velcro residue. This could suggest an ATM parasite was attached prior to examination.
  • Photograph ATM equipment to assist in any physical security inspections.
  • Card skimming time ranges are largely authenticated through video surveillance. Test all video equipment to ensure working order and proper archive.
  • Encourage reporting of tampering, unauthorized ATM withdrawals, suspicious transaction activity, etc. to ISO who should file a SARS with Meta. File reports with local law enforcement. Provide the terminal ID, address and suspected skimming date ranges.
