California A.B. 1747 pertains to TANF/EBT

Update 03/29/16: The current version of this billis dated 3/28/16. A.B. 1747 in the current version excludes an EBT transaction processed through an automated teller machine on the campus of a public or private post secondary educational institution from mandatory withdrawal fees. It goes on to prohibit an institution of higher education from entering into a contract with a bank or financial institution that imposes a fee or surcharge on a person using an EBT card.

The measure was referred to the Committee on Human Services and the Committee on Higher Education and awaits further consideration in the Committee on Human Services.

3/1/16: Assembly member Shirley Weber (D) introduced A.B. 1747 on February 2, 2016. The measure would exclude EBT transactions processed through an ATM located on the campus of a public or private postsecondary educational institution from mandatory withdrawal fees.

The measure was referred to the Committee on Human Services and the Committee on Higher Education on February 25, 2016. The measure awaits further consideration in the Committee on Human Services.
