CT House Proposes Rule Change for Use of EBT Cards Outside of CT and Contiguous States

02/02/15: A new rule, Connecticut H.B. 6156, has been proposed which would prohibit public assistance recipients from using EBT cards outside of Connecticut and contiguous states unless the Department of Social Services has provided prior approval The measure was referred to the Joint Committee on Human Services where it has until February 10, 2015 to be considered.

Connecticut Department of Social Services final rule effective October 8, 2014 regarding location and use of benefits cards

10/8/14 - The State of Connecticut Department of Social Services adopted rule amendments to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program ­ TANF. The final amendments prohibit the use of TANF benefits, including at ATM terminals, in liquor stores, bars, gambling establishments or adult entertainment establishments.
Notice of the final effective rule was published in the Connecticutt Register. The rules were effective 10/8/14.

Connecticut Department of Social Services proposed rule regarding location and use of benefits cards

2/4/14 - The State of Connecticut Department of Social Services proposed amendments to its rules concerning the use of state benefits (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program – TANF). The proposed amendments prohibit the use of TANF benefits, including at ATM terminals, in liquor stores, bars, gambling establishments or adult entertainment establishments.
